Why a letter?
The digits 1 to 9 and 0 use the same cells as the letters a to j. The number sign in front tells the reader they are digits until the next space. So without the number sign, ⠊ would read as i. See all the numbers and punctuation.
Remember it, don't just look it up
Numbers are the number sign and ten letters, so they come quickly. Braille a Day brings it back tomorrow to answer from memory, then again just before you'd forget. Five minutes a day.
